More Than a Meeting Place
Recovery happens in community. While our residential programs serve the men living at New Beginnings, our community programs serve everyone in Hickory touched by addiction—whether in recovery themselves or supporting someone who is.
Our facility generates over 3,000 visits annually from community members attending recovery meetings, making us a vital hub for Hickory's recovery ecosystem.
Weekly Recovery Meetings
We host 10-11 meetings throughout the week, creating consistent opportunities for connection, support, and growth:
-
Daily Morning Meeting - Many people's "favorite meeting," this gathering kicks off each day with hope and community connection.
-
Evening Meetings - Multiple weekly evening meetings accommodate different schedules and recovery program preferences.
-
AA, Al-Anon, and Al-A-Fam - We welcome all recovery fellowship meetings, recognizing that addiction affects entire families and communities.

A Culture of Connection
What makes our meetings special isn't just their frequency—it's the culture of genuine care that develops. People arrive early and stay late, building relationships that extend far beyond the meeting room. This natural networking creates the support systems essential for long-term recovery success.
Our residents participate alongside community members, creating mixed groups where experience and perspective flow freely. Newcomers find seasoned mentors while long-term recovery members find renewed purpose in sharing their journey.
Leadership Development
As our residents grow in their recovery, many take on meeting leadership roles. Leading a meeting attended by 50+ community members builds confidence, public speaking skills, and a sense of contribution that strengthens their own recovery foundation.
These leadership opportunities prepare residents for continued community involvement after they transition to independent living, ensuring ongoing connection and support.
Safe, Welcoming Environment
Our meetings maintain the anonymous, confidential atmosphere that recovery traditions require. Everyone—regardless of where they are in their journey—finds acceptance and understanding.
The facility provides a clean, comfortable space where people can focus on recovery without distractions. Meeting setup and cleanup become opportunities for service and community building.
Open to Everyone
You don't need to be a New Beginnings resident to attend our community meetings. Whether you're new to recovery, have years of sobriety, or are supporting someone in their journey, you're welcome at our tables.
Family members find particular support through our Al-Anon and Al-A-Fam meetings, connecting with others who understand the unique challenges of loving someone with addiction.
Building Hickory's Recovery Network
Our community programs create ripple effects throughout Hickory. Relationships formed in our meetings extend into workplaces, neighborhoods, and other community organizations. People find sponsors, accountability partners, and lifelong friends who share their commitment to recovery.
This network becomes a safety net that catches people before they fall and celebrates their successes along the way.
