New Beginnings Hickory is a sober living facility for men wanting to make a change.

We offer a substance-free sober living community where a man can find the tools and fellowship needed to recover from an alcohol/drug -centered lifestyle. One of the benefits of living in a sober house is the end to the isolation that accompanies addiction. For many, becoming a part of the community is the turning point in their recovery and this sense of belonging often becomes the foundation for their future.


What you can expect from us:

A safe, clean, and alcohol/drug-free living environment

To be treated with dignity and respect

Assistance with gainful employment

Wholesome Food and Fellowship - 3 meals per day are provided to all residents

An environment that encourages accountability, responsibility and a sober living lifestyle

Access to a recovery community with a vast recovery experience, full of people just like you, who have who have been where you are, and are now living happily and usefully whole and who want to help you do the same


What New Beginnings Expects from You

No Drug Use * No Alcohol Use * No Violence

You are expected to actively participate in the recovery process

You are to have a 12-step sponsor within five (5) days of entering New Beginnings (we will help you with this)

You are expected to attend all meetings hosted at the New Beginnings facility

You are expected to attend 5 outside meetings per week

You are to attend and participate in the weekly House Meeting on Wednesday at 6 pm

Pay the Service Fee every Friday

Be willing to arrive early and stay late at meetings to get to know, and be known within, the recovery community and to help with the meeting set up and clean up

Get a phone list at a meeting and contact at least 3 members daily


What to bring with you to New Beginnings

Prescription medications and a 30 to 90 day prescription for refills

Picture ID

Social Security Card

If you do not have a picture ID, you will need a certified copy of your birth certificate to begin the process of getting an ID

Work Clothes

Shower Shoes

Work shoes

Tobacco needs for 2-4 weeks

Willingness to work a full-time, first-shift, non-sedentary type job

Shower gel

Shampoo

Conditioner

Deodorant

Winter coat

Underwear and Socks

Toothpaste and toothbrush

Personal food items such as: Sodas, Candy bars, Snacks, etc.


What not to bring:

Weapons or Firearms

Nutritional supplements

Energy Drinks (Monster, Red Bull, etc.)
